MAGDEBURG,GERMANY- MARCH 17: Artist Christoph Ackermann at the Q.Hof (Kunst und Handwerker Hof) in Magdeburg's Buckau district, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. (Photo By Craig Stennett) Christoph Ackermann began his artistic career in his early teens with his initial form of self-expression being Graffiti art. From this starting point he has expanded his repertoire becoming increasingly involved with abstract contemporary art, graphics, calligraphy and photography. Numerous exhibitions have accompanied his career, such as the Kunstmuseum unser Lieben Frauen, the MDR Funkhaus or the Kunst/Mitte in Magdeburg, the Stroke Art Fair-the leading fair for new contemporary art in Munich, Dortmund and Portugal. After graduating as a designer, he established himself as a self-employed freelance Artist from 2004 onwards working in his chosen fields of art, photography and graphic design. Since the late 1990s he has led workshops and art projects in schools, youth institutions and universities on the topics of art, urban art and photography. He was admitted to the Professional Association of Visual Artists Saxony-Anhalt by the admission committee on 5 April 2022, along with 17 other artists.Ackermann’s Art work and methodology is based on a bipolar, philosophical approach: "Apollonian-Dionysian", which describes two opposing character traits of man and uses the qualities attributed to the Greek gods Apollo and Dionysus. Apollonian stands for form and order and Dionysian for intoxication and an urge to create that transcends all forms. In 2016, together with Magdeburg artist Frank Borisch, he was one of the first tenants to move into the Q.Hof (Kunst und Handwerker Hof) in Magdeburg's Buckau district, thus founding the studio community in the "Q.", which has been working, organising exhibitions or curating in its studios there for 7 years.

LEIPZIG, GERMANY - FEBRUARY 27: Book Artist and practitioner Anne Deuter in her studio in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany on February 27, 2023. (Photo by Craig Stennett) Anne Deuter is a book designer with a bachelor's degree in art history and fine arts from Greifswald. She studied book arts at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle. Since 2015, she has been a self-employed working book artist, book art mediator and draughtswoman.Together with fellow artists Marianne Nagel and Silas Schmidt von Wymeringhausen she opened a space for book art and drawing, Objects of Desire, in West Leipzig in January 2018. Under the name Eselohr. She works as a freelance book art educator in a team with Marianne Nagel at schools, socio-cultural institutions and the OdB. In Anne’s own words: 'Book art gives me the opportunity to explore what unsettles / irritates me. Touch is part of the starting point of my artistic work. Something has to touch me, emotionally and spiritually, to get started. This touch can be contradictory - it can be pleasant, it can also hurt. I often start the creative process with restrictions. This gives me a structure within which to move. It is a delicate balance between order and chaos, intention and intuition. Each step in the process is part of the sequence of works, from drawing to model making to the finished artist's book. After thinking visually with the pencil, I change the material and this change changes the idea. There is a kind of building tension from which what I want to say grows. Once an artist's book is physically complete, the touching continues - in the haptic experience and in letting oneself be touched.'
